Day By Day

Day 1 Kashgar/Urumqi by Train
Meals: B, L
Sites Visited: Sunday Bazzar, Id Kah Mosque, Abakh Hoja Tomb

Arrive in Kashgar airport from Shanghai or Chengdu. Pick up and visit the Kasghar's famed Sunday Market. Visit the Id Kah Mosque and the Abakh Hoja Tomb. Take the night train to Urumqi. Overnight on the train with soft sleeper.

 
Day 2 Urumqi/Heavenly Lake
Meals: B, L
Sites Visited: Nanshan Pasture, Terai Camp

Arrival in Urumqi in the afternoon, you will be met by your local guide and driver  and transferred to Nanshan Grassland for a visit to the Terai Camp to experience of Kazak nomad life, have a cup of milk tea and taste really local food. You will stay in the Yurt overnight.


Day 3 Urumqi/Dunhuang by Train

Sites Visited: Heavenly Lake

In the morning, you will have cruise Heavenly Lake. "Heavenly Lake" is located about halfway up the 5,000 metres high Bogda Mountain. Then drive to this green pine-covered mountain past many Kazakh yurt encampments is as interesting as the lake itself. In the afternoon, transfer back Urumqi to visit the Erdaoqiao International Grand Bazaar. After dinner (you will pay for the meal), transfer to the railway station to catch the train to Liuyuan (near to Dunhuang city). Overnight on the train.


Day 4 Dunhuang

Sites Visited: Mogao Grottoes, Mingsha Dunes, Crescent Moon Lake

Arrive in Liuyuan at 07:51. You will be transfer to Dunhuang city (3hour driving). As an important caravan stop on the Silk Road, Dunhuang is renowned as the site of the greatest trove of Buddhist art the world has known - the Mogao Grottoes which date back to AD366 - and today you will visit these fascinating caves. Then you will proceed to visit the Mingsha Dunes "Singing Sand" - where you can make a (steep) climb up the massive sand dunes for a great view of Crescent Moon Lake.  You will enjoy camel ride, sand surf and sand bath today. Overnight on local 4star hotel.



Day 5 Dunhuang/Jiayuguan by Train

Sites Visited: Jiayuguan Great Wall

After hotel breakfast, you will be transferred to the train station to catch the train to Jiayuguan. On arrival, you will explore the town of Jiayuguan and visit the Great Wall Museum, the 'underground gallery' in tombs from the Wei and Jin periods AD220-240, and Jiayu Fort is known as the 'Impregnable Pass Under Heaven'.  

 
Day 6 Jiayuguan/Zhangye/Lanzhou by Train
Meals: B, L
Sites Visited: Grand Buddha, Wooden Pagoda Temple, Zhangye Danxia Landform

After hotel breakfast, you will be transferred to Zhangye for 3hours’driving by car. On arrival, you will visit the Grand Buddha, Wooden Pagoda Temple, Zhangye Danxia colorful mountains. Take the night train to Lanzhou. Overnight on the train with soft sleeper.


Day 7 Lanzhou
Meals: B, L
Sites Visited: Bingling Temple Grottoes

 Arrive in Lanzhou at 06:48. Guide and driver will pick up you and drive to Liujiaxia Dam on the Yellow River tributary where you will board a small boat for a stunning river trip through dramatic scenery to the Bingling Temple Grottoes where niches and statues are cut deep into high cliffs. check in your hotel.


Day 8 Lanzhou/Xiahe
Meals: B, L
Sites Visited: Gansu Provincial Museum, White Pagoda Hill
 
Visit to the Gansu Provincial Museum, White Pagoda Hill. Then travel by coach to Xiahe via Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region which was a key passage on the ancient Silk Road between East and West and also a major thoroughfare for exchanges between the Han and other nationalities of China.


Day 9 Xiahe
Meals: B, L
Sites Visited: Labrang Lamasery, Sangke Grassland

Often referred to as 'Little Tibet', Xiahe is famous as the site of one of the six leading Buddhist lamaseries in China, the Labrang Lamasery. The lamasery houses thousands of cultural relics including 60,000 volumes of Tibetan scriptures which have been well preserved. There will also be an opportunity to meet the semi-nomadic herdsmen of the surrounding grasslands.


Day 10 Xiahe/Lanzhou/Departure
Meals: B
After hotel breakfast, you will be driven back Lanzhou (4hours driving). In the afternoon, transfer to Lanzhou airport for your returning flight. End of service.

Transportation & Private Transfers:

Transportation cost covers all the domestic airfare of economy class with airport tax, train tickets between the cities as the itinerary specified.


Transfer between airports, railway station, hotels and scenic spots for sightseeing around the cities that are specified by the itinerary with private air conditioned vehicle with driver and English-speaking guide. Separate arrivals and departures will incur extra charges.


Entrance Fees:

All entrance fees to the scenic spots listed in the itinerary. The final arrangement will be determined by private tour guides depends on the real-time local circumstances wheather are beyond the control of Access China Travel. We will adhere to the original itinerary as accurately as possible.


Normal Meals:

All normal meals as the itinerary specified: B = breakfast, L = Lunch, D = dinner in local restaurant. Breakfasts are served in hotel, breakfasts have Chinese or Western style for your option; Lunches are served in carefully selected quality local Chinese restaurants with best service, your lunches will be ordered by your guide catering to your preferences within normal standard. Dinners as the itinerary specified will be also served in local Chinese restaurants. The meal quotation is normalized. If you have any special request about meals, like vegetarian, famous rare dishes, Indian food or more, please inform us in advance. For the unspecified dinners, you will have dinner on your own. Feel free to ask your local guide for suggestions or recommendation.


Private Sightseeing Escort:

Normal sightseeing activities as the itinerary listed will be escorted with English-speaking guide. The English-speaking guide and driver in each city are with you throughout the entire itinerary around that city. They do not fly with you from one city to another.


Hotel Accommodation:

Hotel service criterion: two adults share on one standard twin/double-bed room; solo traveler who want to occupy one twin/double-bed room assigned is required for extra single supplement rate. A single room is available on prior request at an additional cost; if a recommended hotel unavailable, it will be replaced by one of the same class. All hotels as the itinerary listed serve daily western or Chinese breakfast. All rooms are air-conditioned with private facilities unless specified.
