12-day Silk Road China Adventure Tour

Day By Day

Day 1 Arrival in Beijing

Welcome to China! Upon your arrival in Beijing, your local guide will meet you at the airport and you will be driven to check in your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax or step out into Beijing on your own.

Option: For dinner you will enjoy Peking Duck in local oldest and most famous Peking Duck Restaurant.



Day 2 Beijing
Meals: B, L
Places to visit: The Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven

After breakfast at your hotel, your guide will meet you and escort you to visit the incredible Forbidden City, home to China's Emperors for over 500 years. After lunch, You will then be drive to visit the magnificent Temple of Heaven, which was where China's Emperors prayed to heaven.

Option: In the evening you can choos Peking Opera performance in famous Liyuan Theatre for night relax. The opera will have English and Japanese subtitles.



Day 3 Beijing/Urumqi
Meals: B,L
Places to visit: The Great Wall (Badaling Section)

A a morning visit to The Great Wall (Badaling Section), an amazing tribute to man's ingenuity always inspire visitors, you will go on a visit to Beijing Hutongs - the old lanes and courtyard houses. Take a rickshaw or biking to explore Beijing's charming lanes. The visit to a local family, who've lived in the Hutongs for generations, offers a local perspective of history, and is a highlight of the Hutongs for most of tourists.

Then you will take a late afternoo or evening flight to Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. Upon your arrival in Urumqi, your local guide will meet you and escort you to check in your hotel.



Day 4 Urumqi

Places to visit: Heavenly Lake, Xinjiang Regional Museum, Great Bazaar

In the morning after having breakfast in your hotel, your guide will meet you and you will be driven to the gorgeous Tianchi Lake (Heavenly Lake). Tianchi Lake is surrounded by beautiful mountains and its calm waters bring a feeling of peace to all who visit it. After enjoying the beautiful surroundings, you will take a cruise around the lake.

After a visit to the lake, you will be driven back to Urumqi proper to visit the Xinjiang Regional Museum, displaying artifacts from the Silk Road and Xinjiang’s Ethnic Minority Groups. You will then be driven to the Great Bazaar in Er Daoqiao Market. The bazaar never fails to surprise visitors with the uncountable number of things available.



Day 5 Urumqi/Turpan
Meals: B,L
Places to visit: Jiaohe Ruins, Bezeklik Caves, Astana Tombs

You will arrive in Turpan in the morning. You will then be driven to the magnificent Jiaohe Ruins. The ruins are one of the highlights of any visit to Turpan. The ancient city is in a remarkable state of preservation and features one of the oldest Buddhist Stupa's in China.

Then you will be the guest in a local Uygur Family's home. You will have an authentic Uygur family meal including such specialties as nan bread, shish kebabs, and polo rice. You will then be driven to the Bezeklik Caves. The rock cut caves are filled with beautifully colored multi-ethnic Buddhist murals. You will then visit the Astana Tombs famed for their natural mummies and the state of preservation of the artifacts. Stay overnight in Turpan.



Day 6 Turpan/Liuyuan/Dunhuang
Meals: B
Places to visit: Yulin Grottoes, Shazhou Night Market

After breakfast, you will have a short relax until you local guide escort you to the railway station for a morning bullet train (4 hours)to Liuyuan. Upon arrival in Liuyuan, your local guide will meet you and transfer you to check in the hotel in Dunhuang. You will visit Yulin Grottoes on the way to Dunhuang. When you arrive in Dunhuang, you will be driven to your hotel. Then take a night relax on Shazhou Night Market. 



Day 7 Dunhuang
Meals: B, L
Places to visit: Mogao Grottos, Singing Sand Dunes, Crescent Lake

In the morning after having breakfast in your hotel, your guide will meet you and you will be driven to the magnificent Mogao Grottos. Known as "The Caves of a Thousand Buddhas", these honeycombed caves were created over a millennium. You will then be driven to the Singing Sand Dunes, where you will be captivated by the unusual sounds the wind makes as it blows over the dunes.

Then you will be taken to the nearby Crescent Lake, an oasis in the Gobi Desert. This oasis is famous for its unique atmosphere and picturesque buildings. The lake is situated between two gigantic sand dunes. You can experience a camel riding there.  



Day 8 Dunhuang/Xian
Meals: B,L
Places to visit: Xi'an City Wall, Muslim Street  
After breakfast, you will be transfered to the airport for your flight to Xian. Upon arrival in Xian, your local guide will meet you and escort to check in your hotel. Then you will take a walk or biking on the top of Ancient City Wall. Then you have a relax on Muslim Street.

Night Option: Chinese dumplings Feast and Tang Dynasty Show, which brings the pageantry and music of the ancient Tang Dynasty to life.  



Day 9 Xian/Shanghai
Meals: B, L
Places to visit: Terracotta Warriors, Small Wild Goose Pagoda Scenic Area

After breakfast, your guide will escort you to visit the incredible Terracotta Warriors. After lunch you will be driven to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda Scenic Area, where you will stroll through the gardenlike area around the pagoda.

In the late afternoon, you will be driven to the airport for your flight to Shanghai. Upon your arrival in Shanghai, your guide will meet you and you will be driven to your hotel.  

Option:  Chinese Acrobatics Shown at Shanghai Centre Theatre




Day 10 Shanghai
Meals: B, L
Places to visit: Town God's Temple, Shikumen, Old Concession Area The Bund, Shanghai Museum

After breakfast, you will start a full day tour in Shanghai to visit the Shanghai Museum, Town God's Temple, Shikumen, Old Concession Area. Then you will have a bird view of Shanghai city on the top of Jinmao Tower and enjoy coastal sight at the Bund of Shanghai.

 

Day 11 Shanghai/Suzhou/Shanghai
Meals: B, L
Places to visit: Lingering Garden, No.1 Silk Factory, Master of Nets Garden

Today you will take a morning high speed train to Suzhou. Up arrival in Suzhou, you will firstly visit the Humble Administrator's Garden, which is the largest classical garden in this region and praised to be one of the top four gardens in China. Tiger Hill is next stop. Then vist Suzhou Silk Museum, Panmen Gate. In the evening enjoy Night Garden Show in the Master of the Nets Garden.



Day 12 Shanghai Departure
Meals: B

After breakfast, you will be free until your guide meets you and escort you to the airport for your flight to next destination.

Transportation & Private Transfers:

Transportation cost covers all the domestic airfare of economy class with airport tax, train tickets between the cities as the itinerary specified.


Transfer between airports, railway station, hotels and scenic spots for sightseeing around the cities that are specified by the itinerary with private air conditioned vehicle with driver and English-speaking guide. Separate arrivals and departures will incur extra charges.


Entrance Fees:

All entrance fees to the scenic spots listed in the itinerary. The final arrangement will be determined by private tour guides depends on the real-time local circumstances wheather are beyond the control of Access China Travel. We will adhere to the original itinerary as accurately as possible.


Normal Meals:

All normal meals as the itinerary specified: B = breakfast, L = Lunch, D = dinner in local restaurant. Breakfasts are served in hotel, breakfasts have Chinese or Western style for your option; Lunches are served in carefully selected quality local Chinese restaurants with best service, your lunches will be ordered by your guide catering to your preferences within normal standard. Dinners as the itinerary specified will be also served in local Chinese restaurants. The meal quotation is normalized. If you have any special request about meals, like vegetarian, famous rare dishes, Indian food or more, please inform us in advance. For the unspecified dinners, you will have dinner on your own. Feel free to ask your local guide for suggestions or recommendation.


Private Sightseeing Escort:

Normal sightseeing activities as the itinerary listed will be escorted with English-speaking guide. The English-speaking guide and driver in each city are with you throughout the entire itinerary around that city. They do not fly with you from one city to another.


Hotel Accommodation:

Hotel service criterion: two adults share on one standard twin/double-bed room; solo traveler who want to occupy one twin/double-bed room assigned is required for extra single supplement rate. A single room is available on prior request at an additional cost; if a recommended hotel unavailable, it will be replaced by one of the same class. All hotels as the itinerary listed serve daily western or Chinese breakfast. All rooms are air-conditioned with private facilities unless specified.


Tour Arrangements:

The tour cost includes the planning, handling, booking, operation and communication charges.
