Day 1 Arrival/Beijing
Special Optional Cultural Experience: Peking (Beijing) Duck Dinner
Upon your arrival in Beijing, your local guide will meet you at the airport and you will be driven to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax or step out into Beijing on your own.
Optional: For dinner you will enjoy Beijingâ€™s famous Peking (Beijing) Duck in Beijingâ€™s oldest and most famous Peking Duck Restaurant.
Day 2 Beijing
Sites Visited: The Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, the Temple of Heaven
Special Optional Cultural Experience: A Peking (Beijing) Opera Performance
After having breakfast in your hotel, your guide will meet you and you will be driven to visit the incredible Forbidden City, home to China’s Emperors for over 500 years. After lunch, you will be driven to the exquisite Summer Palace, where you will marvel at the opulence of this imperial summer getaway. You will then be drive to visit the magnificent Temple of Heaven, which was where China’s Emperors prayed to heaven.
Optional: In the evening you will be mesmerized by a Peking (Beijing) Opera performance in Beijingâ€™s famous Liyuan Theatre.
Note:The opera will have English and Japanese subtitles.
Day 3 Beijing/Urumqi
Sites Visited: The Great Wall (Badaling Section)
In the morning after having breakfast in your hotel, your guide will meet you and you will be driven to The Great Wall (Badaling Section). This amazing tribute to man’s ingenuity has never failed to inspire visitors. After visiting The Great Wall, you will be driven to the airport for your flight to Urumqi, the capital of the Uyghur Autonomous Region. Upon your arrival in Urumqi, your local guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel.
Day 4 Urumqi
Sites Visited: Tianchi Lake, Xinjiang Regional Museum, Great Bazaar
In the morning after having breakfast in your hotel, your guide will meet you and you will be driven to the gorgeous Tianchi Lake (Heavenly Lake). Tianchi Lake is surrounded by beautiful mountains and its calm waters bring a feeling of peace to all who visit it. After enjoying the beautiful surroundings, you will take a cruise around the lake. After visiting the lake, you will be driven back to Urumqi proper to visit the Xinjiang Regional Museum, displaying artifacts from the Silk Road and Xinjiang’s Ethnic Minority Groups. You will then be driven to the Great Bazaar in Er Daoqiao Market. The bazaar never fails to surprise visitors with the uncountable number of things available.
Day 5 Urumqi/Turpan
Sites Visited: Jiaohe Ruins, Bezeklik Caves, Astana Tombs
Special Cultural Experience: Lunch in a Uygur Family Home
You will arrive in Turpan in the morning. You will then be driven to the magnificent Jiaohe Ruins. The ruins are one of the highlights of any visit to Turpan. The ancient city is in a remarkable state of preservation and features one of the oldest Buddhist Stupa's in China. After visiting the ancient ruins, you will be the guest in a local Uygur Family’s home. You will have an authentic Uygur family meal including such specialties as nan bread, shish kebabs, and polo rice. You will then be driven to the Bezeklik Caves. The rock cut caves are filled with beautifully colored multi-ethnic Buddhist murals. You will then visit the Astana Tombs famed for their natural mummies and the state of preservation of the artifacts. Stay overnight in Turpan.
Day 6 Turpan/Liuyuan/Dunhuang
After having breakfast in your hotel, your local guide will meet you and you will be driven to the railway station for your train to Liuyuan. Upon arriving in Liuyuan, your local guide will meet you and you will be driven to Dunhuang. When you arrive in Dunhuang, you will be driven to your hotel.
Day 7 Dunhuang
Sites Visited: Mogao Grottos, Singing Sand Dunes, Crescent Lake, Gobi Desert
In the morning after having breakfast in your hotel, your guide will meet you and you will be driven to the magnificent Mogao Grottos. Known as “The Caves of a Thousand Buddhas”, these honeycombed caves were created over a millennium. You will then be driven to the Singing Sand Dunes, where you will be captivated by the unusual sounds the wind makes as it blows over the dunes. After visiting the dunes, you will be taken to the nearby Crescent Lake, an oasis in the Gobi Desert. This oasis is famous for its unique atmosphere and picturesque buildings. The lake is situated between two gigantic sand dunes.
Day 8 Dunhuang/Xian
In the morning after having breakfast in your hotel, your local guide will meet you and you will be driven to the airport for your flight to Xian. Upon arriving in Xian, your local guide will meet you and you will be driven to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax, or step out into this ancient city for an adventure on your own.
Day 9 Xian/Shanghai
Sites Visited: The Terracotta Warriors, Small Wild Goose Pagoda Scenic Area
Special Optional Cultural Experience: Traditional Dim-sum Banquet, Chinese Acrobatics
After having breakfast in your hotel, your guide will meet you and you will be driven to visit the incredible Terracotta Warriors. After lunch you will be driven to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda Scenic Area, where you will stroll through the gardenlike area around the pagoda. After visiting the pagoda, you will be driven to the airport for your flight to Shanghai. Upon your arrival in Shanghai, your guide will meet you and you will be driven to your hotel.
Optional: In the Evening you will be taken out for traditional Shanghai local cuisine, a Dim-sum Banquet. After dinner you will be taken to the Shanghai Centre Theatre for the edge of your seat excitement of Chinese Acrobatics.
Day 10 Shanghai
Sites Visited: Yu Garden, Yuyuan Market, Oriental Pearl TV Tower, The Bund, the Shanghai Museum
In the morning after having breakfast in your hotel, your guide will meet you and you will be driven to the Yu Garden, the only ancient traditional Chinese garden left in Shanghai. You will then stroll through the streets lined with traditional styled architecture of the Yuyuan Market located outside the garden and get a glimpse into the local’s lifestyle. After visiting the market, you will be driven to the Oriental Pearl TV Tower to get a bird’s eye view of Shanghai from within its unique architectural orbs. You will then stroll along The Bund, known as a museum of Western architecture, and the nearby Nanjing Road, the No.1 shopping street in China. After, you will then be driven to the Shanghai Museum, arguably the most comprehensive museum in China which will let you explore China’s colorful history.
Day 11 Shanghai/Suzhou/Shanghai
Sites Visited: Lingering Garden, No.1 Silk Factory, Master of Nets Garden
In the morning after having breakfast in your hotel, you will take the mag-lev train to Suzhou, which is famous for its large collection of ancient traditional Chinese gardens. You will then be driven to the Lingering Garden, one of the four most famous traditional Chinese gardens in Suzhou. The garden’s sprawling layout, beautiful water features, and gorgeous architecture makes this one of China’s favorite sites. After visiting the garden, you will be driven to the No.1 Silk Factory. In the factory you will learn firsthand how silk is transformed from the cocoon of the simple silkworm into fabulous cloth. After visiting the silk factory, you will be driven to the Master of Nets Garden. Another of Suzhou’s four most famous gardens, the garden is famous for the stories surrounding many of its structures. You will then take the mag-lev train back to Shanghai.
Day 12 Shanghai/Departure
On this day you will be free until your guide meets you and you are driven to the airport for your flight home.
Transportation & Private Transfers:
Transportation cost covers all the domestic airfare of economy class with airport tax, train tickets between the cities as the itinerary specified.
Transfer between airports, railway station, hotels and scenic spots for sightseeing around the cities that are specified by the itinerary with private air conditioned vehicle with driver and English-speaking guide. Separate arrivals and departures will incur extra charges.
All entrance fees to the scenic spots listed in the itinerary. The final arrangement will be determined by private tour guides depends on the real-time local circumstances wheather are beyond the control of Access China Travel. We will adhere to the original itinerary as accurately as possible.
All normal meals as the itinerary specified: B = breakfast, L = Lunch, D = dinner in local restaurant. Breakfasts are served in hotel, breakfasts have Chinese or Western style for your option; Lunches are served in carefully selected quality local Chinese restaurants with best service, your lunches will be ordered by your guide catering to your preferences within normal standard. Dinners as the itinerary specified will be also served in local Chinese restaurants. The meal quotation is normalized. If you have any special request about meals, like vegetarian, famous rare dishes, Indian food or more, please inform us in advance. For the unspecified dinners, you will have dinner on your own. Feel free to ask your local guide for suggestions or recommendation.
Private Sightseeing Escort:
Normal sightseeing activities as the itinerary listed will be escorted with English-speaking guide. The English-speaking guide and driver in each city are with you throughout the entire itinerary around that city. They do not fly with you from one city to another.
Hotel service criterion: two adults share on one standard twin/double-bed room; solo traveler who want to occupy one twin/double-bed room assigned is required for extra single supplement rate. A single room is available on prior request at an additional cost; if a recommended hotel unavailable, it will be replaced by one of the same class. All hotels as the itinerary listed serve daily western or Chinese breakfast. All rooms are air-conditioned with private facilities unless specified.
