China Petroleum University Teachers Visit Karamay

A delegation of 22 young teachers from China Petroleum University (Beijing) visited its Xinjiang campus on Sept.6, Karamay Daily reported.

The delegation, led by University vice president Chen Da'en, visited the teaching buildings, dormitories, and libraries of the Xinjiang Campus.

Zhang Hong, director of the preparation office of the Karamay Institute of Technology, briefed the Beijing guests on the preparations and planning of the Xinjiang campus in Karamay.

“Karamay changed my opinion of Xinjiang. The city's beauty, tolerance and openness impressed me a lot. I think it is an ideal place for teaching and research," said Zhang Fengli, a mechanical engineering teacher who had six years' experience of overseas study in the US.

According to Chen, the university has incorporated the Xinjiang campus into its overall development plan. Every level of education, including undergraduate and graduate study, international study, distance learning and continuing study will be available. The university will also work for maximum resource sharing with the Beijing campus and make sure the education quality is the same.

Officials from the Karamay development and reform commission, Karamay education bureau, Karamay finance bureau and Karamay human resource and social security bureau attended the seminar.
