The 3rd International Culture Industry Summit launches at Lan

The city of Lanzhou, capital of Gansu province, held the 3rd International Culture Industry Summit and the 7th Gansu Culture Expo Oct 9-11, attracting around 500 guests from more than 60 countries and regions, including the United States, Sri Lanka and Australia, to exhibit their cultural products.

By the end of Oct 10, 103 agreements had been signed, covering more than 43 billion yuan ($7 billion) at the summit.

The 3rd summit centers on “cooperation among the countries along the Silk Road and how to develop these countries’ culture”. The Silk Road, which travels northwestern China through Gansu province from Shaanxi province, is a trade and cultural transmission route connecting regions of western and central Asia. The road was defined around the 1st century BC during the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24).

Various activities will be organized to enrich the summit, including the International culture industry conference, Dunhuang Forum, Culture Salon, a key projects release and a signing ceremony for a variety of agreements.

The summit has five exhibition halls on different themes. They are the main hall – The Gansu International Convention and Exhibition Center; an exhibition hall in Dunhuang city, which is located in the northwest of Gansu; iLanzhou city’s Gansu Provincial Museum, Lanzhou Creative Industry Park, and the art museum of Dunhuang Academy.

The hall in Dunhuang city focuses on how to develop international tourism cities and it has organized several activities to observe the 70th anniversary of the Dunhuang Academy. The Gansu Provincial Museum has exhibited jade ware, pottery and other goods that were traded on the Silk Road; the Lanzhou Creative Industry Park is exhibiting advanced technology products; and the digital Dunhuang is being shown at the art museum of Dunhuang Academy.
